Ermenegildo Zegna founded his wool mill in 1910 in Trivero, in the mountains of Biella, northern Italy — the same heartland of Italian textile manufacturing as VBC and Reda. The company grew from a single mill into one of the most vertically integrated luxury groups in the world, controlling fiber sourcing, spinning, weaving, brand, and retail.
For bespoke tailoring, Zegna is most relevant through its fabric business, which supplies hundreds of tailors worldwide with high-specification cloth. The Traveller collection — engineered for wrinkle recovery and ease of movement — is a favorite of business travelers who want a bespoke suit that performs under pressure. The 15 Mil Mil collection represents the house's ultra-fine merino offering, sitting in the Super 150s range with a featherweight construction and exceptional drape.
Zegna also pioneered the use of merino wool sourced from its own farms in Australia, allowing the company to track fiber provenance from paddock to finished cloth — a significant advantage in an era of increasing scrutiny around supply chain claims.
